You’ve got your Jesmonite liquid and powder and you’re armed with your pigments and sealer, ready to make some magic. So, what tools do you need? Let’s be honest, using your cereal bowl to mix your Jesmonite isn’t ideal! So we’ve compiled a list of five fantastic tools that will help you out, so you don’t need to root through your cupboards to find something that’ll work!
Disposable Gloves
Although Jesmonite is one of the safest resins you can use, it’s always a good idea to protect your hands. Particularly when working with any kind of resin or cement. Not only will gloves offer a layer of protection from any spills, they’ll also mean you won’t have to wash your hands as often, which can lead to dryness. Handily, we’ve got a latex option and a nitrile option of disposable gloves, so you can choose the right ones for you.
Mixing Buckets
As we mentioned, you don’t want to be using your everyday household items to mix your Jesmonite. Which is why we offer mixing buckets, so you can keep these just for crafting. They’re also much kinder to the environment than using disposable plastic cups. Because you can wash and reuse them again and again. Choose the 2.5L buckets for smaller projects and the 10L buckets for larger projects and you’ll be on your way!
Silicone Mixing Sticks
Quite possibly the best invention ever to be created, our silicone mixing sticks are about to become your new best friend! If you’ve ever tried to clean a wooden mixing stick, you’ll know it’s almost impossible to wash all of the pigment off. The moisture makes them soft and a little bit useless, condemning them to the bin. With the silicone mixing sticks, you can simply snap off your existing Jesmonite and use them again and again. Mixing Blades
If you’re mixing large batches of Jesmonite at a time, or you find it hard to eliminate powder lumps, it’s a good idea to think about investing in a mixing blade. They’ll make mixing your Jesmonite so much easier, for a silky smooth, lump-free finish. Simply attach them to your standard drill and mix. Just don’t be fooled into thinking you’re baking a cake! You absolutely cannot bake and eat Jesmonite!
