PREPARATION
Any Jesmonite surface should be clean, dry, and free from dust or contaminants prior to application of Jesmonite Decorative Paints. It is essential to use accurate scales when blending the base colours with any dilution agent to ensure the product blends evenly and to not reduce the durability. Ambient working conditions should be warm, dry, and out of any direct sunlight or heat sources. Mixing containers should be clean and dry, and of a suitable size.

MIX RATIOS
The products can be applied in a neat format by using the base colour directly decanted from its vessel, however, to add a translucent effect the following working ratios are suitable:

Metallic Paint Base Colour 1 part by weight
Dilution Agent 3 parts by weight
Metallic Paint Base Colour 1 part by weight
Dilution Agent 2 parts by weight
Best Results on AC100:
Metallic Paint Base Colour 1 part by weight
Dilution Agent 1 part by weight

MIXING
Jesmonite Decorative Paints must be mixed thoroughly and can be done so using stirring sticks or paint mixing drill attachments. Mix continuously at a low speed by hand until both parts have combined into one and ensure frequent mixing and agitation throughout the application process to ensure both parts stay combined. If the product is not frequently re-mixed to avoid separation throughout the process, you may experience variated colours or drying.

CURING
We recommend allowing 24 hours between coats to ensure best results. The products should be kept in a warm, dry environment during this period. Ensuring the product is left on a level surface to allow even drying is also beneficial. Finished products should be packaged only when fully cured. Care should also be taken when using plastic packaging, particularly in damp storage areas, as this can lead to surface staining and possible water marking.

Jesmonite Decorative Paints are designed to be applied neat or with Jesmonite Dilution Agent. For neat application simply decant a small quantity from the vessel onto a suitable mixing and application tray and apply using your desired application tool – for varied effects you can utilise brushes, rollers, and sponges amongst other tools. For creating translucent designs, it is recommended to dilute Jesmonite Decorative Paints with the Jesmonite Dilution agent. Mixing ratios from 1:1 up to 1:5 are common however higher dilution ratios are possible. It is extremely important to frequently mix the products before and during work. Further dilution agents such as water should not be added.
Your prepared mix should be applied cross-ways with a brush, by roller or airless spray gun – it is important to work quickly wet-in-wet and to maintain a wet edge to a corner.

Products should be stored at a constant temperature between 5oC – 25oC and used within twelve months. Freezing must be avoided.
