A silicone rubber thixotrope will thicken up any of our RTV Silicone Rubbers that we stock.

Applied to your silicone mix the rubber can be used to coat vertical surfaces (without run-off and wastage) or piped to create seams for a multi part case. Thixotropic additive is used to fill voids.

Silicone Rubber Thixotropic Additive (thickener)

The catalysed silicone rubber mixture is non flowable by the addition of XIAMETER® TS Thixotropic Additive. Perfect for applying to vertical or overhead surfaces with minimal run-off. Also great for quickly building up layers of silicone on a master.

Add just 1 to 3% by weight ( one cube inch per kilo) of Silicone Rubber Thixotropic Additive (thickener) to the catalysed silicone. Any more and you’re just wasting it. Remember, a little goes a long way!

Mix thoroughly until a paste consistency is reached.

New formulation means the material remains liquid at all normal temperatures. The old Thixo was solid at room temperature ( lard like consistency ) and had to be heated up to flow normally – a pain!
