Silicone Oil
Silicone Oil is a softening additive for RTV Silicone Rubber. This makes the liquid rubber easier to de-air after pouring and the cast easier to demould from the master and the mould.

Our Silicone Oil, also known as Silicone Fluid, is a Dow Corning grade 200/50CS.
Silicone Oil can be used for softening RTV Silicones; by adding 5% by weight, you will reduce the Shore A by around 3. Higher additions will produce very soft silicones. However, this does weaken the silicone and reduce its tear strength and surface resistance. Add 25% and this will produce an extremely soft and spongy, flexible silicone.
Addition will also reduce the viscosity of your silicone, making it less prone to air retention.
Silicone Oil can also be used for smoothing out a thickened brush-on silicone. Using a brush dipped in the fluid you can smooth out the wet silicone without it sticking to the brush. This is ideal for smoothing out a final coat of brush-on silicone, prior to making the support jacket (mother mould).
Lubricant and release agent: Silicone oil is used to reduce friction between moving parts and as a non-stick release agent for moulds. It is compatible with many surfaces, including rubber, plastics, and metals.
