This Fibre Glass tissue is bound by a modified Styrene resin which is rapidly soluble in styrene resin systems. Designed to be used as a surfacing tissue for GRP (glass reinforced plastic) laminates. Also great for strengthening Jesmonite laminates and thin section coatings and panels. Massively increases impact resistance. For even stronger panels use Quadaxial matting.
Fibre Glass tissue strengthens the resin-rich gel coat surface of fibre glass reinforced plastic components, creating a strong bond with the underlying laminate and enhancing surface appearance by masking the reinforcing fibre pattern. Surfacing veils also isolate the substrate fibres from exposure to corrosion, abrasion and moisture, contributing to the structural integrity of the total composite.
It can be used to cover coarse surfaces of chopped strand mat and other GRP products. Improves finish on completed laminate when used on last layer.
May also be used as a barrier between layer of gelcoat surface and chopped strand mat to prevent print through.
